The Dubai Land Department has advised all owners, developers, property management companies, and tenants to register the names and contact details of any co-occupants in both owned and rented residences.
According to a Dubai Land Department circular, registration must be completed in “maximum of two weeks with immediate effect” and can be done through the Dubai REST app.
In order to register their co-occupants, all owners, developers, property management companies, and tenants must follow an eight-step procedure that includes entering personal information and the Emirates ID.
Following registration, the tenancy contract will instantly be updated with co-occupant details.
How can I sign up?
1-Log into the Dubai REST App by opening it. Please register if you’re a new user.
2-Select “individual” as your role and log in with UAE PASS to obtain quick access.
3-Utilize the UAE PASS program to prove your identification.
4-From the dashboard, select the property where you own or are a tenant.
5-Click Manage Co-Occupants to proceed.
6-To add co-tenants to the rental you are a tenant of, click “add additional.”
7- Enter the ID number and birthdate of the co-Emirates occupant, then click “verify.”
Include each individual living there in the family. To evict a co-occupant, select the delete icon and then hit submit.
As part of a comprehensive reform program that also includes changes to the laws governing divorce and inheritance, the UAE will relax its family regulations in 2020 to allow the cohabitation of unmarried couples or unrelated flatmates.
